HOW TO SELECT AND MAINTAIN DVD PLAYER BATTERIES
DVD players are used by all the people these days. We use it mainly to watch movies, play games and also as an audio player. DVD player battery plays an important part in running the DVD's. They should be bought with care and then maintained properly for the DVD's to work properly.
 | Each model and brand of DVD players has batteries that are specifically designed for them. So compatible batteries have to be bought and the replacements have also to be the right one. Some of the DVD player battery manufacturers are: Toshiba, Polaroid, Samsung, Sony, Apex, Panasonic etc. |
The earlier batteries used for the DVD players were the Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) and the Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries. Now the batteries used are the Lithium Ion (Li-ion) batteries. The nickel cadmium and nickel metal hydride batteries were heavy and could perform only for a short period of time, after which, it had to be recharged again. They did not have a long run time. All these batteries have to be recharged and they need care and maintenance.
The lithium ion batteries are more expensive than the earlier batteries but they are more efficient. They have a longer run time. They do not have to be charged that often. They can be used to play for a longer period of time. They are also light weight compared to the other batteries.
To select the batteries for our DVD player, the model and brand of the DVD player should be specified. Then a compatible battery should be bought. After you have bought the right set of batteries, they should be maintained properly. Later replacements should also be according to the specifications.
When the DVD player is used to play games, the batteries will drain very quickly. Rechargeable nickel metal hydride batteries are the better than alkaline nickel metal hydride batteries. They will give more pictures per charge. It can also be recharged as many times as needed. To get the full capacity of the Nickel Cadmium and Nickel Hydride batteries, it is best to condition them. This means that they should be fully charged and then fully discharged at least every two to three weeks, so that it will reach its maximum capacity. This will reduce the 'memory effect'. The metal connections should be kept clean. The batteries should not be left without being used for a long period of time. It is good to have two sets of batteries so that there will always be a spare to depend on.
All the types of batteries should be handled properly. They should not be subjected to extreme temperatures. The life time of the batteries will be shorter if the temperature is too cold or there is moisture. It should not be placed near the windows or near the air conditioner. The lithium ion batteries will be unstable in high temperatures. The DVD player batteries should not be left in the player when it is not being used for a long period of time. It should be placed in Styrofoam. This will have the right temperature necessary for the batteries.
Any electronic gadget will work well if the batteries work properly. This means that we should pay attention to its maintenance. DVD players also need proper care and maintenance.
